A little while ago I posted a concept image of the gestalt Ursa Major. I decided it was time to return to that design and rework a little. This is the result
Ursa is a consistent title contender and has had many pilots over the years. His stable AI combined with a reliable chassis has seen him make it through some of the toughest seasons in recent years.
In this case yes. many gestalts end up being the property of the pilot due to the neural connections making them less compatible with new pilots. Resulting in them ascending through the league rankings with their respective teams and pilots. Or on the more brutal side are often discarded and cannibalised to build a new machine. Ursa's versatility means he has escaped such a fate.
*stares with mouth agape for the first few moments*
How you come up with all this is beyond me, all I know is, you two are going far if you can get this in-depth with your schematics and story-line. Though if I could draw, I know without a doubt i'd being doing it too. But I can't...
I'll tell you my secret, I sit on the sofa drawing these whilst watching Rugby or T20 Cricket^^. Having something on in the background actually helps me focus lol.
That said, it's something I have now worked on for several years and basically, I've developed a standard design philosophy when it comes to how gestalts are constructed.
Perhaps one day I will draw an exploded diagram of what these things look like under the armour...
To be honest this is their basic armour. For full combat they sport ablative blocks over the surfaces, bolt on cannons and often carry some sort of large scale knife. Some are fond of equipping missile systems and smoke launchers too. So I kind of have to go to both extremes, an 'anatomical' view and a full on 'war protocol' version.
